Old Louisiana State Capitol,Baton Rouge, Louisiana, state capitol building built in the Gothic Revival style from 1847 to 1852. Used as a prison by theUnion Armyfollowing the capture of the city during the Civil War. While being used as a prison it caught fire and the interior was gutted. The interior was rebuilt in 1882 and it continued to be used as the capitol building until 1932. It is a National Historic Landmark.
