Gillette is a city in and the
county
seat of Campbell
County, Wyoming, United
States. The population was 19,646 at the 2000 census. Because Gillette is
centrally located in an area that is vital to the development of vast quantities
of American coal, oil, and coal bed methane
gas, the city proudly calls itself the "Energy Capital of the
Nation".
At Gillette, Wyoming there is a LORAN-C transmitter at 44°00'11" N and 105°37'24"
W. Its aerial, a 213.36 metre high guyed radio
mast, is the tallest structure in Wyoming.
Points of interest:
Devil's Tower--First National Monument is considered one of the natural
wonders of the world.
Keyhole State Park--A popular spot to enjoy fishing, campint, canoeing,
water sking and snowmobiling.
Vore Buffalo Jump--Ancient Archeologial site.

nation. FREE daily tours available Monday through Friday during the summer
months. Special tours are available in the fall and
winter.

Wyoming game fish include
bass (Micropterus and Ambloplites); sunfish
(Lepomis); crappie (Pomoxis); walleye and sauger (Sander); yellow perch
(Perca); trout, salmon, and char (Salmo, Oncorhynchus, and Salvelinus); whitefish
(Prosopium); grayling
(Thymallus), pike (Esox); catfish and
bullheads (Ameiurus, Ictalurus,
Noturus,
and Pylodictis), burbot (Lota); sturgeon (Scaphirhyncus); and
freshwater drum
(Aplodinotus).
Trout species include rainbow
trout, cutthroat trout, brown
trout, brook
trout, and lake
trout. There are four subspecies of cutthroat trout
native to Wyoming: the Colorado River cutthroat, the Yellowstone cutthroat, the Bonneville cutthroat, and the
Snake River Cutthroat.
