FIVE RETIREMENT HOME LOCATIONS

The October 2006 issue of Money Magazine picked the following 5 locations for retirement home locations.

1. Walla Walla, WA

2. St. Simons, GA
3. Prescott, AZ
4. Hollland, MI
5. Williamsburg, VA

While we agree with a lot of their reasons:

• Good Health Care
• Open and/or Green Space
• Variety of Cultural Activates
• Variety of Leisure Activities
• Reasonable Home Prices
• Reasonable TOTAL Tax Burden

We have the following reservations about their choices:

1. Walla Walla--Can you say the absolute middle of nowhere.
2. St. Simons--Barrier islands and hurricanes don't mix well.
3. Prescott, AZ--The best of their choices, but the housing prices don't match your editor definition of reasonable.
4. Holland--Lake Michigan wind.
5. Williamsburg--Obviously the writer has never lived in a tourist trap town.

Of course it is, to each his own, but we suggest re-reading our check list for selecting a retirement home location.
